Bangkok - From River to Riches
Somewhere in the night a few boats are motoring on the water, people are dining on the street and talented chefs are cooking up an explosion of flavour. But the dining experience at Lebua is something unique, a taste of the good-life in Bangkok and a view that's fit for a king.

Antarctica - Sleeping with the penguins
If your spirit for exploration is not completely quenched by artistic ice, squabbling penguins and hikes across the landscape you can always add a few kayak excursions to the trip. When you pre-book this option you’ll be provided with sea-kayaks, dry-gear and the chance to paddle instead of Zodiac when the conditions are suitable.

Japan - Beautiful Secrets
On the western edge of Kyushu the city of Nagasaki is well known to foreigners for rickety old electric trams and a vibrant nightlife - both of which blend international influences with Japanese kitsch. Nagasaki has historically been the port of entry for curious travellers seeking to understand the peculiarities of Japanese culture.

China - Cooking in Yanghsuo
Not only have some of Yangshuo’s women found themselves careers at Pam’s cooking school, but it is their very own recipes that are brought to life in the kitchen. Simple yet delicate creations, unique to the region and passed on through generations of families. Under Pam’s guidance the recipes are expertly presented with a playful smile.

Lake Titikaka - Floating in Peru
These villages remind me of my Nanna, who learned to macramé stitch when she retired and within months had decorated every inch of her home in wool. Only in the case of the floating villagers the raw materials are aquatic plants.

Malaysia - KL Shop Over
Marked prices are merely a guide to where the bidding starts. Expect to hear plenty of complaining from the store owners about how they can’t afford to feed their ailing grandmother unless you offer more money. Don’t be fooled by their well rehearsed theatrics, if your price really is too low they can always say, “No thanks.”

Borneo - Wildnerness of Sabah
The bottles of juice, packets of dry biscuits, curry sauce and grains of rice have all been hauled by hand along the same track – even the gas for cooking dinner and heating water for showers. It doesn’t matter what price they charge for a can of drink, you’ll know you’re getting good value

Cycling Special - Wheel World Adventures
Traditional road tours still top the list, and why not when you can hop on a ferry in Croatia, ride across an Adriatic island and spend the night in a charming pension by the water. The pace of cycling is very relaxed, which is just as well because the wine and seafood up and down the Dalmatian coast is too good to rush.

China - Longji rice terraces
Our host for the night is Mr Li. He remembers me from the last visit and immediately offers me a cup of rice-wine. I have to be watchful of his generosity – the cup may be very small but it has a way of being refilled without my knowing.
