There are two things in the world of photography I really hate. Weddings and competitions. At least with a wedding shoot you might get paid at the end of it, which therefore makes competitions the most evil thing in the world.

This post is an extract from my book, because it's an idea that keeps popping up and I am happy to share as much of my thoughts on "photography competitions" as possible. Since first writing this chapter I recorded a YouTube on the topic as well.
Putting The Photo First
I believe that the photo should be more important than the photographer. When I travel with camera in hand my objective to achieve something wonderful in the way of photography. I want to make a beautiful image, something more amazing than anything I have done before. It’s about the photograph. It’s about the act of creation.
