I've been working on this workshop concept for a very long time. It's genesis came from talking to people on workshops and camera club nights, when they would say things like "Nobody ever told me that before, these conversations never happen in my club."
It got my thinking "what else don't they tell you in camera club?"
For a decade now I've been running a 4-day workshop for professionals and people looking to make a change in their careers, but one geared specifically for Food Photography. My wonderfully talented wife, Shellie Froidevaux, handles the creative side while I hack away at the technical. The workshop is very much a window into how we run our professional lives!
This new workshop takes that format one step further. It's designed to make space for all kinds of photographic interests. It's not about food. It is about light. It is about cameras. It is about expression. It is about creativity.
Mostly though, it's about change.
Why else do you sign up for a workshop? Presumably you want to make a change? CHANGE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY is a workshop for people who feel they're missing something, and are ready for a reset. It's an immersion into a creative space where you can explore, make mistakes, stumble around, bump into obstacles... and eventually find your path to what excites you and your photography. It's a chance to start over.

We begin the workshop with a review session. The feedback will be VERY direct. There's no sugar coating and the focus will be on what is NOT working and what will genuinely lead you to a new path. From there we look at a series of fundamentals in photography, and try to extract specific areas where your craft is falling short of your expectations.
You'll be taking a lot of photos during this workshop too, so you will need a good laptop and software such as Lightroom or Capture One. As the program moves forward we hope you'll have a chance to put into practice the ideas laid out in the presentations.
As always with my workshops we have arranged somewhere wonderful to experience it, and some little treats to make the experience a little more enjoyable. Shellie will be in the kitchen catering to our culinary requirements, which for many of our previous guests has been highlight enough to join a workshop!
We were due to run this event down in Portland this week, but the lockdown in Victoria means we cannot gather as a group just yet. So we've got a new location and a new date. September 2-6 near Ballarat.
Between the date change and border closures, we now have a few spare places for the rescheduled workshop. If you think you might like to grab a spot, follow the link below to book or give me a call.
